Description:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely researched and effective evidence-based approaches for treating a broad range of mental health concerns. This presentation reviews the core principles of the CBT model, its empirical support, and the role of the therapeutic relationship in promoting meaningful client change. Participants will learn how to utilize the Strengths-Based Cognitive Conceptualization Diagram (SB-CCD) to guide case conceptualization and evidence-based treatment planning while exploring how CBT is applied throughout the counseling process. Practical cognitive and behavioral interventions will be demonstrated through clinical examples and an applied case study, equipping attendees with strategies they can immediately integrate into practice.


Objectives:

(1) Identify the core components of the CBT model and their role in evidence-based treatment planning

(2) Describe evidence-based cognitive and behavioral interventions and explain their clinical utility across a range of client presentations and treatment goals

(3) Apply core CBT strategies through case conceptualization and clinical scenarios to support evidence-based treatment planning and therapeutic change

About the Presenter:


Jessica Headley, PhD, LPCC-S, PMH-C, is the CEO of Wellness Grove, a behavioral health organization in Ohio providing counseling and wellness services across the lifespan. She holds a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision and has more than 15 years of counseling experience spanning hospital, college, private practice, and community behavioral health settings.


As a counselor educator, Dr. Headley has taught graduate-level courses in diagnosis, treatment planning, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), preparing future clinicians to implement evidence-based interventions with confidence and fidelity.


As a practicing Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor – Supervisor and executive leader, she has integrated CBT into organizational training and clinical practice, supporting its use with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.


Dr. Headley has served in leadership roles at the state, regional, and national levels and is passionate about advancing high-quality behavioral healthcare through clinician education, supervision, and evidence-based practice.


Education, Licensure, Certifications, Training, and Experience Related to the Training:

Dr. Headley holds a PHD in Counselor Education and Supervision; is currently a practicing Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor (LPCC-S) with more than 15 years of counseling experience in which she has utilized CBT with diverse populations across the lifespan; has received specialized CBT training in graduate school; and has provided specialized CBT training through the delivery of graduate counseling curriculum.
