Supporting Survivors: Responding to Barriers to Inclusive and Equitable Service Delivery

Domestic violence victims from underserved and oppressed communities often face complex barriers when navigating systems and services. The legal and criminal justice system is no exception. Unfortunately, the legal obstacles faced by these victims can leave them feeling overwhelmed, unheard, and unable to access the same support provided to privileged communities. In this training, participants will hear from experts in the field on best practices for allying with victims from underserved communities to provide support through the legal and criminal justice systems. Expert presenters and a diverse panel of victim advocacy professionals will provide crucial information on the legal rights of domestic violence victims, culturally responsive practices, and strategies to engage victims from Deaf, LBGTQIA, Hispanic, Black/Brown, Immigrant, and rural communities.


This training is designed for attorneys, victim advocates, and other domestic violence professionals. Registration will be open for the first 100 registrants and will close after that amount has been reached.

Presenters: Alexandria Ruden, Esq., Supervising Attorney, Cleveland Legal Aid Society. Jocelyn Armstrong, Esq., Director of Inclusion and Outreach, Ohio State Bar Association. Including a diverse panel of victim advocacy professionals.


CEUs: CLEs and CEUs are pending for this training. To obtain 5.5 CLEs or CEUs, you must attend the entire training and complete the evaluation. When you register, please include your complete license number if you are a licensed counselor or social worker in Ohio. Evaluations and Certificate Request Forms must be completed within 24 hours after the training to receive CLEs and CEUs.


Lunch: Box lunches will be provided for registered attendees.
