Benjamin Weissman, a Psychology professor at Holy Cross, will give a talk on the science of the emoji. His research has covered social and cognitive aspects of the smiley symbols, exploring how people interpret their meanings and how our brains make sense of them.
The talk will discuss how to think about emoji alongside other forms of communication, like words, pictures, and gestures, and discuss both the challenges and benefits that come with using emoji.
