Meet The Presenters

Daniel Merchant, LCSW - Dan is a retired Navy Combat Vet, who has Inpatient Social Work experience from working at UPMC McKeesport Behavioral health unit, Outpatient experience as a trauma therapist working with fellow combat Vets at White Oak Vet Center. Currently he is a Suicide Prevention Coordinator for VA Medical Center Pittsburgh and provides clinical assistance and case management to high risk for suicide Veterans.

Nicole Gallagher, LISW - Nicole began her career as a paramedic in Southwestern Pennsylvania before earning her MSW and working as a Crisis Stabilization Specialist in Michigan. She later served as a case manager for the Northeast Ohio VA Healthcare System, ultimately finding her passion in suicide prevention. Recently, she returned to the Pittsburgh area to focus on community-based suicide prevention interventions.

St. Joseph Institute provides a tranquil and secluded campus, allowing clients to prioritize their mental health free from the distractions of the bustling outside world. St Joseph Institute offers mental health treatment services for adults struggling with various mental health conditions, such as depressionanxietybipolar disorderschizophrenia, substance use disorders and more. Recognizing the unique needs of each individual, mental health treatment at St. Joseph Institute is tailored to suit, understanding that what benefits one may not suit another. Consequently, every client collaborates closely with their counselor and other professionals to craft a customized care plan.
