Virtual Training Participation and Attendance Policy

Participants must register for training programs in order to attend. Participants are expected to attend each session of a virtual training program in its entirety, whether a multi-day certificate program or a single-day non-certificate course. Those who miss more than one hour of a session for certificate programs, or 25% of a non-certificate course will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion (certificate programs) or certificate of attendance (non-certificate courses) until all sessions are completed in their entirety. Those who do not complete the first session of a multi-day certificate program will not be allowed to attend the other sessions until the first session is completed.

In addition, participants must complete all pre-assessment and post-assessment evaluations. Participants are expected to have their own workstation with a functioning webcam that remains on during the entirety of each training session, have access to a microphone to engage in group activities, and participate in all activities. Failure to meet these expectations may disqualify participants from receiving a certificate of completion/attendance and continuing education units (CEUs). Participants who do not have a functioning microphone or access to their own workstation within 15 minutes of the training start time will be removed from the session. The technology and workstation requirements do not apply to entity-specific policy compliance trainings.

*POOL/PACT Risk Management Grants may be available to defray costs of webcams and/or microphones for member-owned equipment for staff unable to attend this training if not for budget constraints.

Essential Management Skills

in the Public-Sector

Certificate Program

Winter 2023 - Virtual Version

Four sessions presented in eight half-day segments

This program has been developed specifically for managers and supervisors to assist them in learning to build credibility through effective communication, time management, and performance management skills.  Whether in the trenches or just starting to manage others, this program provides a wealth of ideas, techniques, and knowledge to help manage people and projects effectively.  This is an invaluable opportunity for participants to learn proven techniques to make them effective leaders in their organizations.

Participants will need to be available to attend all sessions. Completion of and participation in all sessions is required to earn a certificate.  Participants will receive information about how to log in to a VIRTUAL learning portal containing comprehensive information that can be used during and after the course.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who is currently in a management/supervisory role or will be promoted to a management/supervisory role within three months of completion of the program.

Note: If not currently in or imminently going into a management/supervisory role, POOL/PACT HR's training, "So, You Want to be a Supervisor?" may be a more appropriate class.
