Throughout a child’s development, grief presents itself in various ways, which often don’t coincide with how adult caregivers express their grief. Join us as we explore the diverse ways children demonstrate their grief and discuss how caregivers can respond in supportive ways.


Learning Objectives:


  • Learn 3 ways that grief can present itself in each stage of development.
  • Discuss ways to support children when they are displaying grief symptoms.
  • Discuss how appropriate responses to grief can facilitate resilience.


2.0 Continuing Education hours available through Florida CEBrokers for Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and Certified Master Social Worker.  Certificates will be provided.



Danielle Visone, LCSW


Danielle Visone, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Empath Health, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2014) and Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work (2016) from Florida Gulf Coast University. Her passion for social work was ignited by her childhood loss when her father passed away from Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer in 2001. Inspired by supportive Social Workers during her grief journey, Danielle found purpose in serving grieving children and families. Currently, she leads the Blue Butterfly Family Grief program at Tidewell Hospice/Empath Health, offering counseling and support in four counties. Danielle has received accolades including Manatee Young Professional MVP, SRQ Magazine 35 under 35, and Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance Young Professional of the Year. She was also recognized as 40 under 40 by the Naples Herald in 2017, named the 2019 Soaring Eagle by Florida Gulf Coast University, and is a graduate of Leadership Manatee Class of 2019.

Lendy Chapman, MS, CCLS


Lendy Chapman, MS, CCLS is a Certified Child Life Specialist who has worked with children and families for over 20 years. Lendy provided child life services for over 15 years in a local children’s hospital and supported children and families in various units including the Emergency Room, NICU, PICU, and Hem/Onc. Lendy is an active member of the Association of Child Life Professionals, has served on numerous committees and has presented at multiple national conferences for ACLP. Lendy received her Masters degree from Boston University in 2015, which she identifies as an important achievement in her career.  In addition, Lendy has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Central Florida to help prepare future students in their work with children. Currently, Lendy works at Blue Butterfly Family Grief Center where she serves as a counselor for grieving children and provides coaching and support to families.
