16th Annual CTBA Beekeeping School - March 7, 2026

You are invited to the largest bee event in Texas! From the moment you arrive until the last class of the day, you will immerse yourself in the fascinating world of beekeeping. Whether you're a NEWBEE looking to get started or a seasoned beekeeper, prepare for a FULL DAY of instruction featuring OVER 40 UNIQUE CLASSES covering everything from the basics to advanced beekeeping. You will have the incredible opportunity to WATCH as we OPEN A LIVE HIVE right in front of you, giving you an up-close look at these amazing creatures. And to top it off, the day will conclude with LOTS OF DOOR PRIZES.

Our Beginning Beekeepers Class (Beekeeping 101) offers an introduction to the fascinating world of honeybees. You will dive into bee biology, including the vital roles played by the queen, worker bees and drones. You will learn what essential tools you will need as you embark on your beekeeping journey, how to install your bees, what to feed them, and how to inspect your hive. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to "suit up" and engage directly with a live beehive as one of our experienced beekeepers points out the difference between worker and drone brood, what bee bread looks like, and you might get lucky and spot the queen as she goes about her business. If you are beyond the beginner stage, there are plenty of classes to choose from. Check out our Intermediate and Advanced classes including Beekeeping 201, Making Increases with Splits, Bee Plants from You and Your Bees, Beekeeping for Property Tax Ag Valuation, Raising Your Own Queens, Catching and Keeping Swarms, among others. A tentative list of classes that will be taught at this year's school can be found here. 2026 CTBA Bee School Classes. Several new classes have been added this year, including How to Read Your Frames, Digital Marketing for Small-Scale and Sideliner Beekeepers, and Honey Sensory.

A Vendor's Area with +/- 40 vendors will be open for you to purchase all the equipment needed for your first hive along with bee artwork, products from the hive, and plants for your beescape. The Vendors are all extremely knowledgeable and will be willing to answer any questions that you might have.

Your registration fee also covers a "Bee Book" containing information from most classes for you to review when you get home and a wonder BBQ lunch, including Blue Bell Ice Cream (we are in Brenham after all). You are welcome to bring your own lunch to meet your individual dietary needs if you don't want BBQ. We do not offer a vegan or vegetarian meal, but there are plenty of offsite restaurants in the area if you wish to go offsite.
