Presenter: Megan Flaherty, LCSW

Megan Flaherty graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2004 with a Masters in Social Work and has been working in the mental health field since that time. Mrs. Flaherty worked at Jesse Brown VAMC in Chicago for 9 years, completing mental health intakes and providing crisis coverage for the Emergency Room. She was an outpatient MH therapist at Fort Belvoir for 2 years and has been at the Hampton VAMC since 2018.

In April 2020 she joined the Suicide Prevention Team as a case manager, promoted to coordinator, and moved in to the Community Engagement Partnership Coordinator role in 2022. In the CEPC role Mrs. Flaherty uses a public health approach to prevent and reduce suicide by working collaboratively with community based coalitions to enhance the care our service members and Veterans receive in the community while also providing education and increasing awareness of VA resources and services.
