This resort is a beautiful waterfront hotel on Lake Wawasee (Indiana's largest natural lake). Oakwood sits on 27 acres of forested land, and a variety of outdoor activities are available on site, including access to nearby trails, shopping, fishing, boating, and more. It provides a unique setting for rest and spiritual renewal.

Cost

To make this retreat as affordable as possible, the Great Lakes District will be covering the food, speakers, and the meeting facilities of this retreat. You are responsible only for the cost of your hotel room and your travel.

We've intentionally scheduled the retreat to run through Sunday to give you and your spouse time away from your church to connect with other ministry couples who "get it" and be ministered to rather than doing ministry that weekend. If you need help finding someone to fill the pulpit for you, please reach out and we can try to help. (If you’re a lay person in your church, champion the cause for your pastor and his wife to attend!)

Overview

On Friday evening we'll begin with dinner at 5:30pm followed by a fun, relaxed time of connection, camaraderie, and sharing designed to foster new connections with other ministry couples and strengthen existing relationships.

Saturday and Sunday will provide times of worship, Bible teaching, and plenty of down time to connect with others, rest, and rejuvenate.

Our goal for the weekend is for pastors and their wives to get away, rest, and make some connections with other ministry couples. Local church ministry is hard work, and it’s dangerous for any individual and any ministry couple to go it alone!

Speaker

Curtis Coston serves as Senior Pastor of Solid Word Bible Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was previously Senior Pastor, for 5 years, of Black Forest Christian Fellowship, an English speaking, international church in the Black Forest of southern Germany. Before leaving for Germany, Curtis served as Administrative Pastor at Solid Word and was one of the initial elders when the church was planted. This native New Yorker had a previous career in banking and serving the urban church through Cru Inner City. His passion is to build strong disciples of Jesus Christ who have a compassionate heart for the city. Curtis and his wife Lovette have been married for 28 years and have 3 adult children. He and Lovette are learning to do life in a new chapter as empty nesters.
