| Olive Haly, a native of Guyana, and a member of Corpus Christi parish and Servants of the Lord prayer community, will be the next speaker for our Magnificat Meal to be held on February 28, 2026.
Olive Haly feels that God called her to His Sacred Heart from a young age. A Catholic all her life, Olive attended Catholic schools through high school. As a child, when her family visited the altar of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she would kneel and ask Him to give her a loving and kind heart like His. She would also take her young cousins to the same altar, and lead them in the same prayer.
Olive became very involved in the church in Guyana. While pregnant, she was a Eucharistic minister and lector, and taught CCD programs.
Olive remembers hard times in Guyana, where the president banned imported goods, wanting his country to provide for their own food. He banned all flour except rice flour. The people stood in line to get oil, chicken, and rice. Olive recalls how God came into her life in a new and powerful way. She became involved in the Charismatic Renewal. She would visit hospitals to pray for the sick, and brought food to those unable to stand in line.
The Scriptures became real to her. In her personal life, she understood the meaning of Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything will be added to you.” As her faith grew stronger, she began to trust God more and her life changed. With the Holy Spirit working in her life, she would often recall her prayer as a child, “Make my heart kind and loving like yours.”
Olive came to America on fire for the Lord and his people. She looks forward to sharing more experiences about the Holy Spirit working in her life. |
