Who Should Attend:

Behavioral health providers

Description:

“In some ways counselors are like our society’s medicine men and medicine women. They work in uncharted territories to bring comfort and healing to emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical suffering”. (Rudick, 2012, p.555).

The difficulties mental health workers face daily require a particular amount of self-care. This workshop will focus on self regulation when working in challenging circumstances. Attendees will participate in exercises for self-care and connection and create understanding of our unique individual roles and commitments to the work we do. We need to care for ourselves in specific ways if we want to care for others. To enhance this process our workshop will be experiential and interactive.

Learning Objectives:

1.       To understand the relationship between stress and self-connection.

2.       To learn grounding techniques for effective self-regulation.

3.       To confront resistances to practicing lifestyle changes.
