| This course is specifically designed to enhance the student’s skills in the fundamentals of building searches. This course will also outline and execute the tactical techniques associated with ballistic shields and identify various mechanical and ballistic breaching tools. Students will be challenged mentally, physically, and professionally in handling high risk and stressful situations that an officer may face in the performance of her duties. On the last day, all students will apply and execute the different techniques and skills learned throughout the training by participating in a real-life scenario where they will engage in a dangerous encounter with combative subjects. Training will be accentuated into a realistic course by the use of live fire, non-lethal training simunitions, and close-quarters combat to enhance the officer’s skills needed to control violent subjects. These exercises will produce a physical and stressful element to simulate psychological and physiological effects of a potentially lethal confrontation. Students are expected to build awareness and have the confidence to confront the everyday challenges faced throughout their career. Note: Long sleeve shirts and gloves are recommended due to force-on-force live simunition training.
