People Tech Maritime - digital, Athens. October 16 2025

The maritime industry is preparing for the 2030s. We want robust digital infrastructure, watertight cybersecurity, granular systems for monitoring emissions, support for crew competency development, and appropriate use of LLM tools. How do we get there?

TOPICS WE WILL TACKLE

DIGITALISATION MATURITY

What is the best way to manage a portfolio of software applications?

How do we best define "future proof" when it comes to digital technology?

Can we make our communications infrastructure easier to manage?

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

How can we best use LLMs in ship operations?

What AI tools add the most value in operations

What should IT managers be aware of which is emerging / on the horizon?

CREW / TRAINING

What digital tools are best in preparing crew for SIRE inspections?

Can we do more to manage crew competence with digital technology

CYBERSECURITY

Approaches to operational cybersecurity which work

How to handle IACS cybersecurity regulation

DECARBONISATION TECHNOLOGY

How can it be easier to work with sensor data

How can we use AI in decarbonisation modelling

What is the best data infrastructure for decarbonisation

These are difficult problems, but by setting up discussions we can all better understand the frameworks and components to move forward

OUR THEME - PEOPLE, OPERATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY

Our special theme for this year is people, operations and technology.

Any company can buy technology products, but for products to support staff in execution of their goals, we need a good technology, operations and technology relationship.

In particular, technology tools must provide people with the best situation awareness they need to do their work.

This applies to people in all operational roles in shipping - such as maintenance and asset management, safety management, training and competency management, procurement, commercial, vessel performance

And also to people managing digital infrastructure and cybersecurity itself - is it easy to manage, are we identifying problems in advance, or only being reactive (responding to problems brought to us by others)?

Getting decarbonisation right is all about the people-operations-technology relationship. And it is different for crew in the engine room or deck, for superintendents, for vessel performance managers, for commercial people and senior managers making investment decisions.

The better we do people, operations and technology, the better the company performs overall. We need to get as good as we can at it, and do that quickly.

We'll explore how to do that at People Technology Maritime Athens in October 2025.
