This session will share insight on different lived experiences, societal values and beliefs, and perspectives on liberation psychologies that can help service providers elevate their service delivery and connect with those seeking support and resources.

Objectives - Here's what you'll learn:

  1. Identify various aspects of intersecting identities, and how these layers of a person can be an asset or barrier to providing culturally-response services.
  2. Describe five different types of trauma, and how they are interconnected in the lived experiences of individuals and communities that receive services.
  3. Analyze the history of hate and violence in America, and explore how this has influenced systems of care, services providers, and community members.
  4. Gain insight on liberation psychologies and how this framework can be integrated into supportive services for improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Meet the Speaker

Jonathan M. Wicks, LCSW


Jonathan Wicks is a clinician, musician, and tech entrepreneur. He is currently the Associate Director of Social Change and Innovation at the YWCA of San Gabriel Valley. He earned his undergraduate degree in cognitive psychology with a research focus on cognitive neuroscience, and his graduate degree in social work with a clinical focus on violence prevention. When he is not providing services to those exposed to traumatic experiences, behavioral health challenges and social inequities, he is busy cultivating young musicians into world class performers, while also finding the time to develop products and services through web, mobile, and game development.

After the webinar a recording will be sent to all registrants to view for up to 1 year after the live event, therefore no refunds will be granted. It is the responsibility of the participant to view the recording while it is available. This webinar will not be available for sale later.
