Infiltration is relentless and plagues communities large and small. The goal of injection grouting in municipal sewer systems is to seal joints and defects to stop active or potential infiltration and inflow (I&I) in structurally sound pipes and stabilize loose soil. The consequence of being reactive is far more costly – and hazardous – than being proactive by maintaining and rehabilitating utilizing injection grouts. According to the US EPA, up to 50% of flow to wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is a product of groundwater infiltration entering the system through pipe joints and defects. This problem increases treatment volume which is absorbed by the ratepayer.

The Municipal Sewer Grout School will help you understand how and why injection grouting stops groundwater infiltration into sewer collections. The two-day session will present technical information on:   

• Lateral and mainline Test and Seal packer operation and maintenance
• Mixing and optimizing AV-100 Acrylamide Grout performance
• Review and demonstration of new NASSCO/ICGC grout specifications
• Live infiltration and grout sealing demos - mainlines, laterals, manholes
• Test Cell Research findings
• Grouting for soil stabilization
• New grout testing and monitoring information and methods

This class is presented by Aries Industries, Avanti International, and Logiball. These firms are active members of the Grouting Committee which is affiliated with the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO). NASSCO is the source of education, technical resources and advocacy for the underground infrastructure industry. Serving a diverse membership base consisting of contractors, suppliers, public agencies, utility owners, engineers, and everyone aligned to setting standards to ensure the health of underground infrastructure, NASSCO ultimately exists to keep our communities safe.
