2026 Great Willamette Cleanup – Westfir: Portal Park (On Land)

Event Basics: Join South Willamette Solutions and the City of Westfir for an on-land trash cleanup as part of the 2026 Great Willamette Cleanup. While most of our cleanups focus on the mainstem of the Willamette River, Westfir is seated directly along the beautiful North Fork of the Willamette – and if we want to protect our river, it is essential that we protect our headwaters. The group will start at Portal Park and work our way along the riverbank, removing as much trash as possible from the river and its floodplain.

When & Where: Saturday, October 10th, 2026 | 9:00am - 12:00pm

Please meet at the main parking lot for Portal Park, located across the Office Covered Bridge from N Fork Road. Trained cleanup leaders from SWS will be on site to check volunteers in, distribute cleanup supplies, and provide a group safety briefing.

What to Bring:

• Sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you are comfortable getting dirty and wet.
• Sunscreen, drinking water, and layers that are appropriate for the weather.

Additional Details:

• Willamette Riverkeeper and our partners will provide all necessary cleanup equipment and PPE for this event (trash bags, gloves, grabbers, etc).
• No previous experience is necessary to volunteer for this event – we will conduct a thorough safety briefing and cleanup training at the start of the day.
• Children ages 10+ are welcome to participate in this event if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
• If you have a truck or trailer to help haul garbage, please feel free to bring it along!
