Christie Miller, manager of Lyonia Environmental Center will present about Florida scrub-jays and their unique home at Lyonia Preserve. Learn about the fascinating behavior of these intelligent, cooperative birds and why they depend on Florida’s rare scrub habitat to survive.

*For Science Cafes, the Gillespie Museum stays open late until 6PM! Stop in and visit even if you aren't attending the program.

At the Lyonia Environmental Center, Christie oversees environmental education programs focused on the unique scrub habitat of Lyonia Preserve. She previously served as Volusia County Environmental Volunteer Coordinator, working closely with volunteers to support conservation efforts. A lifelong bird watcher, Christie has a deep passion for wildlife and enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for nature with visitors of all ages.

Registration requested, but not required. This helps us plan seating and food. Seating is limited in our classroom. In the event we run out of space, those who pre-registered will be seated first.
