Who should attend: Anyone who has previously attended the Cultural Competency Part 1 training with StarkMHAR.


Description: The Cultural Competency Training (CCT) Advanced module will increase the awareness, knowledge and skills required to function effectively with cultural differences that may be present in the area of medical services, service organizations and agencies, medical interpretation and community partnership. The CCT Advanced curriculum includes, but is not limited to: building a culturally competent system of care and community partnership.


Presented by: Isaac Baez, MPH, CDE

Isaac Baez (pronounced B-UY-ehz) is a seasoned consultant, skilled facilitator, and founder of Visage Cultural & Diversity Consultation, LLC. His focus is on advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Isaac has previously worked as a consultant for organizations such as the Hope and Healing Survivor Resources Center and StarkMHAR. Since July 2024, he has served as the Assistant Director of Education and Training at Pathways Community HUB Institute. He supports PCHI®'s mission to reduce health disparities and improve whole-person care by developing and implementing training programs for Community Health Workers (CHWs) in both English and Spanish.


Isaac earned his Master's in Public Health from NEOMED and holds a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) certificate from the Institute of Diversity Certification. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Health at Claremont Graduate University.


He has conducted training sessions throughout Ohio, covering topics such as Cultural and Linguistic Competency, Cultural Humility, Language Access, and LGBTQ+ 101. His passion for helping those in need has been a driving force behind his career in Public Health and DEIB. This commitment has allowed him to engage with various groups, including serving as co-chair of the Akron Pride Festival Steering Committee, the Akron-Canton Latino Committee, the Summit County Refugee Task Force, the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence (OAESV) board, and the Plexus LGBT+ Allied Chamber of Commerce board.


Isaac lives with his spouse, Logan, and their two dogs, Charlie and Osito (which means "little bear" in Spanish).
