Level III – Mini Spanish Immersion for Law Enforcement (5-day) Part A (Prior Spanish Class/Instructor approval required)

This class is designed as a follow on of our Level I and II classes for officers that cannot devote ten days to attend an immersion class, but still desire to obtain the content. To acquire all of the information originally contained in the ten-day immersion, officers should also attend the Level IV class, which is Part B.

· Quick review of alphabet, numbers & rules of Spanish pronunciation

· Introduction to subject pronouns and regular and irregular present tense verbs.

· Introduction to sentence structure and formulating commands.

· Introduction to twelve common useful verbs to include idiomatic expressions.

· Introduction to reflexive verbs and their use.

· Daily intensive and repetitive verbal and grammar drill groups

· Review and use of definite articles

· Introduction to and explanation of Por vs. Para

· Introduction and usage of prepositions of action.

· How to tell time, describe clothing and express weather conditions.

· Introduction and verbal drills with Preterit tense.

· Contrasting usage of Saber and Conocer

· Contrasting usage of Ser and Estar.

· Verbal drills to develop conversational skills.

· Obtain accurate biographical information, identifiers and physical descriptors in Spanish

· Pivotal phrases and interview control techniques to quickly obtain information and avoid being overwhelmed with conversational Spanish

· Arrest commands to prepare suspects for handcuffing and phrases to assert scene-control while gaging compliance and maintaining officer safety

· Handle general/unknown-risk and known-risk/high-risk traffic stops with Spanish-speakers

· After the third day, only Spanish is spoken in class except in case of emergency

· Nightly homework. Computer preferred over Tablets to ensure the best experience with our LMS program.



As part of the class offering, students will receive a class handout and access to 3rd party app for practice
