Beyond energy savings, airtightness supports moisture management, proper equipment operation and sizing, and indoor air quality. The question is: how do we know if a building is airtight? The answer is whole building airtightness testing. ABAA members helped develop ASTM E3158, the standard for testing large or multizone buildings, and in 2022 launched a Blower Door Technician training and certification program to support industry adoption.
