Join us online for our next

Technical Services Interest Group meeting

on Thursday, May 9th!

Our guest speaker will be Violet Fox, Cataloging & Metadata Librarian at Northwestern University's Gaiter Health Sciences Library.

Topic: Using accurate and respectful terminology is a core value of library metadata, but what do we do when the terms available aren't good? Let's talk about options available to propose revisions to the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) or to use alternative vocabularies. Anyone who cares about the words we use in our catalogs is welcome to this conversation, no cataloging expertise required.

Guest Speaker: Violet Fox

Violet Fox (she/her) is a Cataloging & Metadata Librarian at Northwestern University's Galter Health Sciences Library in Chicago. Her passions include critical cataloging, zine librarianship, and promoting the mental health of library workers. Find more info at her website, violetbfox.info.

Interest Group Facilitator: Damaris Wright

Greetings to you! I have been the Technical Service Coordinator for Carl S. Swisher Library at Jacksonville University for over 5 years now and look forward to how the world of libraries and information management in general will evolve in our digital landscape. We are all constantly learning and each of us has something to offer and discuss. It's my hope that our meetings highlight everything that matters to us as the technical experts of our libraries. See you there!

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only. Registration is strongly encouraged.
