Understanding Exposure is an all-around guide that delves into the various components of creating a final image. It covers everything from selecting the right camera and lens combination, understanding the significance of different accessories, determining optimal settings, effectively editing and processing the photo, and knowing when to make thoughtful decisions while abstaining from specific techniques. At the end of the class, photographers can gain an understanding of the entire photographic process and enhance their ability to capture stunning images.

Exposure is essential to photography because it directly determines how light interacts with the camera sensor, influencing brightness, clarity, and mood. It allows photographers to have greater control over the tonal range, depth of field, and composition, enabling them to capture their intended vision accurately. With an understanding of exposure, photographers can achieve the desired result and capture the full potential of a scene.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What camera can I bring? Any digital photo camera that is either mirrorless, a D-SLR, or a bridge system. No Film Cameras, Tablets, or Smartphones!
  • My camera is ten years old, and it has been a while since I've used it. Will the class help me? Some yes, but mostly no. Although there are many commonalities between all cameras, the older the camera, the more modern features will not be available to your system. A private lesson would be more appropriate for older systems.
  • What cameras are covered in the class? Almost any camera system except for Tablets, smartphones, and film cameras is acceptable for the lesson. However, JPI sells Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, and Sony camera systems that are featured in the class.
  • Can my spouse or significant other come along? Yes, as long as you share the same camera. There is one camera per couple.
  • I have more than one camera, can I bring them all? The class will focus on camera systems in general. However, you should use only one camera (your primary camera) for the class. You should save multiple camera systems for private lessons.
