Dr. Lisa Hancock, a clinical psychologist who specializes in neuropsychological evaluations, will discuss the complexities and misconceptions surrounding hidden learning and processing disorders that often go unrecognized in traditional educational and clinical settings. Attendees will learn about the varied symptoms and behaviors that may be misattributed to motivation or behavior issues, rather than underlying neurological differences. The presentation highlights examples to illustrate the subtle signs of disorders such as dyslexia, auditory and visual processing disorders and many others. It covers the impact these disorders can have on academic achievement, social interactions, and emotional well-being. Dr. Hancock will address common myths and stereotypes, encouraging parents, educators, and professionals to look beyond surface behaviors. Early identification, effective support, and collaboration between families and schools fosters greater awareness, empathy, and proactive intervention for those affected by hidden learning and processing disorders.
