Meet the Speaker

Alejandra Santizo de Leon, BSN, RN, IBCLC

Alejandra Santizo de Leon is a dual board-certified registered nurse (Guatemala–California) and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a deep commitment to maternal-child health. With a unique cross-cultural perspective and over a decade of experience, Alejandra brings both clinical expertise and heartfelt care to the families she supports.

Her journey began in Guatemala, where she worked as a midwife, staff educator, and HIV counselor-care coordinator for vertical transmission. After relocating to the United States, she continued her work in maternal-child health as a Welcome Baby nurse conducting in-home visits—a role that led her to pursue certification as a lactation consultant.

Since then, Alejandra has provided compassionate, culturally responsive lactation care across a range of settings, including five years in a Level III NICU, four years in outpatient care, and two years in hospital-based labor and postpartum units. Her approach is rooted in curiosity, empathy, and problem-solving—what she lovingly refers to as her "Mary Poppins bag of resources."

Alejandra understands firsthand that each family's journey can be filled with uncertainty and unexpected challenges. Her own path has been shaped by perseverance, reflection, and growth, and she uses that experience to walk alongside families—supporting them as they make informed decisions, navigate complex systems, and find confidence in their infant feeding and parenting goals.
