Frustrated by the lack of affordable housing available for elderly family members, a group of concerned citizens sought assistance from the City of Kirksville and presented a petition to the City Council. On August 7, 1970, Mayor L. P. Anesi appointed five commissioners to the Board, officially creating the Housing Authority of the City of Kirksville.
By June 1976, Kirksville completed its first Public Housing units. These same units, located at Devlin Place and Village 76, are still "home" to Kirksville residents today - 50 years later. Please join us in celebrating these 50 years of impact! |
