Description:

Proper Prevention documentation does more than satisfy compliance, it protects the individuals you serve, demonstrates fidelity, and proves the impact of your work to funders. Designed specifically for Prevention Professionals, this interactive 3-hour training bridges the gap between state regulations and real-world daily practice.Participants will review key requirements within the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), explore best practices for confidentiality and data storage, and examine practical templates for documentation. Through small-group breakout discussions and hands-on template reviews, you will leave with actionable tools to streamline your agency’s documentation process.


Objectives:

● Identify relevant Ohio Administrative Code requirements for documenting Prevention.

● Utilize three tools to effectively document their prevention services.

● Identify three ways that effective documentation produces higher quality programming.

About the Presenter

Lake Miller, He/Him, NCCJ of Greater Dayton: Director of Education


Lake Miller is the Director of Education at The National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Dayton (NCCJ). Since 2018, he has overseen NCCJ’s youth prevention programming. Each year, Lake oversees programs reaching thousands of youth in Montgomery County and the surrounding area. He also works to create and implement meaningful professional development programs for corporate and community settings.


After attending NCCJ’s Anytown Youth Leadership Institute while in high school, Lake found a passion for social justice and prevention. This influenced Lake’s higher education journey and professional career path. Lake believes in the power of conversation, creating safe spaces for individuals to engage in meaningful conversations.


Lake has implemented training and solutions into businesses including Montgomery County ADAMHS Board, The Dayton Bar Association, The University of Dayton School of Law, Sinclair Community College, Beavercreek School District, Dayton Public Schools, and countless others.


Lake is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant (OCPC) and is a certified QPR suicide prevention instructor. Lake focuses on bringing issues of cultural humility into prevention by implementing SMART goals into Prevention strategic plans. He also works to educate other preventionists on how to be more inclusive and equitable in their prevention practice. Lake is deeply passionate about working with individuals across the state of Ohio to help them in the process of becoming credentialed.


Lake is the previous president of the Village Impact Project’s (VIP) Board of Directors in Yellow Springs, OH. VIP is a 501c3 that matches youth with mentors in the Village of Yellow Springs. Lake served on the National Leadership Team for Scouts for Equality, a nationwide non-profit working to end discrimination in the Boy Scouts of America. Lake is a coach with the Ohio Coaching and Mentoring Network (OCAM), providing training and technical assistance to prevention specialists across the state. Lake currently serves as the President of the Montgomery County Prevention Coalition, one of 11 Blue Ribbon Coalitions honored across the nation in 2024. Lake is a Volunteer Trainer with 4 Paws for Ability where he assists in training a Service Dog in Training for a kid of Veteran with disabilities and is a foster parent.
