Fundraising 101

Fundraising 101 is a practical, beginner-friendly workshop designed for nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers who are responsible for raising money.

Participants will learn:

•   Developing good habits early in your fundraising career
•   Which efforts offer the most promising returns
•   Building a fundraising toolkit, including how to embrace gift tables in your daily work, using logic models to think more clearly, adding sizzle to your messaging and the supreme importance of stewardship. 

Past participants have indicated that the workshop provided doable and realistic next steps they can put into action right away.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Understand today’s realities in development, including fundraising during chaotic times. 
• Adding relevance and urgency to your fundraising message.
• Why donor retention remains a growing challenge and what to do about it.
• What donors really want.

This session is ideal for small and mid-sized organizations, new development staff, executive directors wearing multiple hats, and board members who want to be better partners in fundraising.

About the Presenter

Wendy Dyer, President of Wendy Dyer Fund Development Consultants, has enjoyed working with hundreds of nonprofits as a consultant, from north to south and throughout the Midwest. She has helped pump millions of dollars into the economy - expanding programs and building schools, health centers and cultural places - bringing opportunity to thousands of people. A frequent presenter and trainer, Wendy encourages agencies to find their "sizzle" and embrace her mantra that "People are giving money away, anyway, might as well be to you." She has served the region for 28 years and has helped to manage more than $100 million in projects over the last 2 years.
