I'm Walking on Sunshine!🌞
Remember that song by Katrina and the Waves? It's hard not to smile when you hear it.
Walking regularly does so much more than get you moving. And now you can even Walk With The Doc (see below)!
When we think about finally getting in shape, it can feel like a big decision. Which gym should I join? Should I train for a 5K or a marathon? It can be much simpler than that. Amazing health benefits can come from just putting one foot in front of the other and taking that first step.
Walking, even a few steps at a time throughout the day, is linked to real health benefits. For example, walking about 7,000 steps a day has been linked to:
- Lower rates of heart disease, dementia, stroke, and even falls
- Improvements in blood pressure and blood sugar levels
- And even a lower risk of death (almost 50% lower!)
There's more. Walking can also help lift your mood and support your mental health, including for people living with depression.
So take it one step at a time, and let's do it together!
