The best part about summer is making new friends, learning new skills and laughing the entire way.

TACSC Summer Conference is our flagship program, bringing together future leaders every summer for more than forty years. Current fifth, sixth and seventh grade students are guided on their leadership journey by a seasoned and well-trained staff of high school and college students. Our unique peer-to-peer delivery empowers students to develop critical skills, including goal setting, time management, communication and public speaking.

  • Summer Conferences are open to rising fifth through eighth grade students, meaning they will be entering those grades in the fall. For older students, consider our High School Summer Seminar.

  • Participating students are instructed by a volunteer staff of high school, college and career professionals. All staff must pass a background check regardless of age, and those over 18 also complete mandatory reporting training. Staff trained in first aid are on site.

  • TACSC will adhere to all masking, social distancing and capacity requirements from Loyola Marymount University.

  • All transportation will be the responsibility of the students to arrive and depart safely to and from campus.

  • For the overnight conference, there will be male and female dorm separation with staff rooms positioned among delegates. TACSC typically does not allow roommate requests in an effort to help students step out of their comfort zone and meet new people. There are nightly patrols by both staff and security.

  • Roommates will be assigned based on gender, age and council. Since "COVID bubbles" are no longer required, TACSC will not honor roommate requests to discourage cliques and inspire new friendships to form.

  • The delegate schedule is packed with supervised, interactive activities and group workshops focusing on personal growth, meeting design and participation, communication and presentation skills, goal setting, problem solving and more. This busy schedule maximizing learning potential and helps with homesickness.

  • Cell phones are allowed and encouraged for nightly communication but turned off during the day.

All conferences include group meals in the Loyola Marymount University cafeteria - all meals for the overnight and session and lunch for the days-only session. Overnight students are encouraged to bring small bills to purchase snacks in the evenings. Want to know what else to bring? Click here for an overnight packing list.
