What is Women in the Word?

Women in the Word is an interdenominational women's ministry serving the region of Southern Illinois. In-person events are made possible through donations, sponsorships, and the sale of modestly-priced tickets. Our mission is bringing women together for Bible teaching focused on the fundamentals of being a disciple of Christ. Read our faith statement here.

Who are the speakers for July 13?

Keynote Speaker - Allison K. Daniels

A song of worship saved her life. At the age of 12, Allison Daniels was invited to sing at a local youth ministry event. She has suffered silently for years as a result of abuse, but that night as she sang "Because He Lives," a shift happened. A girl who wanted to end her life, yet was still searching for peace, went to the altar and found a friend named Jesus. Her life was never the same.

Today, Allison is a Bible teacher and a worship leader. She and her husband, Sean, live in the Tampa, Florida area.

ROCIO WILLIAMS

Originally from Mexico City, Rocio moved to Marion, IL in 2008. She felt the call to ministry in 2002, and been serving as a local pastor in the United States since 2010.

Her passion is to make the Gospel accessible to all Spanish speakers in the area.

SARAH SWAIN

Sarah is a pastor’s wife, mother, senior office administrator and has been serving in ministry in Carbondale for fifteen years.

She believes in sharing life experiences and journeys of faith, and hopes to be a a source of relatability and encouragement for women.

ANGIE BAUGHMAN

Angie is a pastor, Bible teacher, writer, podcaster, creator of the Step By Step Bible study method, and the founder of Steady On ministries.

She is a trauma and abuse survivor who talks openly about overcoming obstacles to live in close connection with Jesus.

What is the schedule for the day?

9:00 am - 11:40 am

11:40 am - 12:30 pm Lunch

Dine on your own at area restaurants or with the speakers and other attendees for an additional fee.

12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

What is the study focus?

The speakers will be focusing their messages on being rooted in the Lord to be radiant for the Lord.

Our anchor verse is 2 Kings 19:30, “And you who are left in Judah, who have escaped the ravages of the siege, will put roots down in your own soil and will grow up and flourish.” (NLT)

What is the financial investment?

Event tickets are $25 per person and include all event sessions and activities.

Childcare costs are an additional $5 per child.

Optional lunch at the event is an additional $7 per person ($5 for the kiddos).
