Thank you to the 509 members who took the time to cast your votes in this election of Executive Council Officers! A huge thank you as well to the SCFT elections committee Chair Janice Ledgerwood and her committee members, for their leadership and dedication to a fair and transparent election process.


Above is the link to view the results of the State Center Federation of Teachers Executive Council Officer Elections for service years 2026-2028. Congratulations to all of the newly elected officers!


Should any member of the union wish to file a complaint with the Secretary of Labor alleging that the provisions of the LMRDA have been violated in this regular election of officers, they have 3 months (from the date of this certification) to do so.


However, the following steps must first be exhausted, locally:


1.     Seek remedy by contacting SCFT Election Committee Chair Janice Ledgerwood, janice@scftunion.org and filing a complaint, within 5 duty days.


2.     Appealing the decision of the SCFT Elections Committee to the parent affiliate American Federation of Teachers (AFT), by contacting AFT Secretary/Treasurer Frederick C. Ingram on this [AFT contact page].

February 13, 2026- Important Update & Voting Information

Procedural Reset

The 2026 officer election timeline has been administratively reset to ensure full compliance with federal labor law (LMRDA) and the SCFT Constitution and Bylaws.


This reset is procedural and does not affect candidate eligibility or the integrity of the election process.


Voting Dates


Digital Voting Opens: Monday, March 9, 2026 at 8:00 AM

Digital Voting Closes: Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 5:00 PM


Ballots will be available online for the full two‑week voting period.


Election results will be shared with candidates on Friday, March 27, 2026, during a live Zoom, provided by the Third-party Vendor, Time is TBD. 


How You Will Vote

The election will be conducted online through BallotPoint, an independent third‑party election services provider specializing in secure labor organization elections.

Eligible dues‑paying members will:

  • Receive a secure ballot link via email and/or text message
  • Receive a USPS mailer from BallotPoint with voting instructions
  • Cast their ballot online using a unique, single‑use voting credential

Voting takes only a few minutes and can be completed from any computer or mobile device.


Election Security & Ballot Secrecy

BallotPoint’s system includes:

  • Encrypted ballot transmission and storage
  • Separation of voter identity from ballot selections
  • Unique, single‑use voting credentials
  • Prevention of duplicate voting
  • Independent tabulation of results
  • Audit safeguards that preserve ballot secrecy

Individual votes are confidential.

BallotPoint does not share how any member voted.

Only aggregate results are reported.
