OFFERINGS TO RITUAL SUPPORT TEAM:

If you would like to express generosity by making a general contribution that will be distributed to the umzed, musicians, chopons, ordained, and other students who are engaged in supporting the retreat, please donate here in any amount you wish. We ask that you please do not write anyone’s name on the offering since the offerings will be distributed among the ritual staff by the organizers.

We Encourage In-Person Attendance This Year

We encourage you to attend in-person if you are able. Vajrakilaya Retreat provides a powerful opportunity to engage in purification and merit-gathering activity as a group, as the lineage masters intended. When you attend in person, there are palpable blessings in the temple from our lineage masters and sacred objects, and from years of the sangha gathering to practice together. We hope to see many of you in the shrine room as we gather with our lamas and fellow dharma practitioners. You are welcome to attend as much as you are able, whether it be one session, one or several days, or the entire retreat.

We encourage everyone to attend, no matter where you live, so we will once again offer this retreat on Zoom.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

To attend, you must have received a Vajrakilaya empowerment or be engaged in daily ngondro or sadhana practice under the guidance of an authentic master.

In-person attendees: Please read our COVID policy HERE.

Healthy Lunch and Dinner Options Available this Year

For those of you attending in-person, we are pleased to be able to offer simple, healthy vegetarian or meat lunches and vegetarian dinners, both for people attending the whole retreat and for those only attending a day or two.

Please go to the in-person registration page to sign up in advance for meals. Then send an email to [email protected] to let us know if you eat meat or are vegetarian. Thank you!

About Tashi Choling's Vajrakilaya Retreat:

About this Retreat:

Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche established this retreat as his samaya commitment to Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche many years ago. Rinpoche has said:

“Vajrakilaya is a powerful method to clear obstacles. His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche told me to do it, saying that it would remove obstacles to the propagation of dharma and all virtuous spiritual and worldly activities. Also, the Dalai Lama asked me, seemingly out of the blue, ‘Do you practice Vajrakilaya?’" He encouraged me in the practice and told me that, at his command, Vajrakilaya practices are carried out regularly at his monasteries in Dharamsala. These great masters have explained the power and blessing of Kilaya practice, so we should practice! If we don't listen to them, then to whom will we listen?”

The Practice of Vajrakilaya:

Vajrakilaya, the wrathful emanation of Vajrasattva, the Buddha of Purification, is a powerful deity to practice for removing obstacles, cutting through negativity, and swiftly progressing on the path. By practicing this profound treasure of His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche in a group setting, with all of the necessary ritual articles gathered, we have the opportunity to gather vast merit and root out our negative habits.

Just as Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche foretold, Vajrakilaya practice is an important method for the removal of the obstacles facing all inhabitants of the world, particularly in these challenging and degenerate times. This retreat contributes to the pacification of all obstructing forces occurring worldwide, in our country, community, and within our own minds. Obstacles manifest as outer, inner, and secret, and this practice can and will remove them when engaged with wisdom awareness and the pure intention to bring benefit to all living beings. In light of the many disturbing events and difficulties arising both globally and on a personal level at this time, we hope that everyone can join us in this sacred effort!

Sang (Smoke Offering) Ceremony!

Friday, November 3, 8:00 am - 8:45 am

Traditionally on the first morning of our yearly retreats, before we begin the first session of the day, we gather in front of the temple to offer a Sang Ceremony. We will practice the RIWO SANG CHÖD, "Mountain of Burnt Offerings," practice revealed by Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje.

We hope that all of you who are planning to attend in-person will join us (sorry, no Zoom for this short outside practice).
