| Linking Lives Day Support Community Engagement |
|
Our Community Engagement groups recently gathered for a meal and meaningful connections at Messiah Lutheran Church. Thanks to their generosity in sharing kitchen facilities, our team prepared chicken alfredo and fresh salad for everyone to enjoy. These gatherings provide more than just good food—they create space for conversation and relationship-building that strengthens our community partnerships. Special thanks to Messiah Lutheran Church for hosting this fellowship opportunity. We look forward to many more collaborative events in the future. |

Participants continue to strengthen their partnership with Feed More, Central Virginia's core hunger-relief organization dedicated to providing neighbors in need with healthy meals and hope for a better tomorrow. Our team volunteers regularly with the Feed More Community Kitchen, helping load vehicles with wholesome, nutritious meals for the Meals on Wheels program. This hands-on experience allows participants to make a tangible difference in our community's wellbeing while building meaningful connections with fellow community members—an opportunity our participants always look forward to. |
|
Participants were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our local news station, WTVR Channel 6. The visit provided insights into the production process for television news programming and allowed us to explore the specialized equipment that brings daily broadcasts to our community. Thanks to the WTVR Channel 6 team for hosting this opportunity and for their generous commitment to community engagement! |
|
Participants recently enjoyed an exciting outing to Mechanicsville High School to catch a basketball game. The energy in the gymnasium was fantastic as we joined fellow community members in cheering on the Mechanicsville Mustangs! These community events offer a great way to connect with neighbors while supporting local athletics. |

We've been making the most of the warmer weather by getting outside more! One of the first warm days this spring, participants and staff enjoyed a fun game of football on the lawn. Playing sports together is a fun way to work on our coordination and fitness while also spending time with friends. We're looking forward to even more time outdoors as the weather gets even better! |
|
We've been exploring the art of Play-Doh pottery! This hands-on activity provides a wonderful opportunity for creative expression, allowing everyone to experiment with different shapes, designs, and colors. As we rolled, pinched, and sculpted, we also gave our hands a gentle but effective workout, growing our flexibility and strength! |
|
Participants discovered the calming and meditative process of creating foil art. Our Art Therapist, Heather, guided participants through the step-by-step process: First, they selected their design; then, they etched the design into the foil, creating a 3-D impression; and finally, they added color to their finished piece. This hands-on experience was a wonderful way to practice mindfulness and improve focus. |

| Music is a powerful force at our center, bringing us together and lifting our spirits in countless ways. Whether it's through impromptu karaoke, our specialized sessions with Music Therapist Miranda, or our energetic dance-based workouts, it's clear that music brings so much joy and inspiration to our lives!
Music Therapist Miranda leads engaging sessions that incorporate musical games and the opportunity to play various instruments. Participants look forward to these sessions, where they connect with one another through shared melodies.
Our daily dance-based workouts are another highlight. These sessions provide a fun and effective way to stay active, improve coordination, and get their hearts pumping, all while enjoying great music. |

| At HAC, we believe that birthdays are a special occasion to celebrate the unique contributions of each individual in our community. That's why we host a birthday party each month, ensuring that everyone gets their special day celebrated with joy and laughter shared with good friends.
We've rediscovered the simple pleasure of classic party games, like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, and of course, no celebration is complete without a tasty treat to share!
These events remind us that the best part of any celebration is the company we keep. The warmth of friendship and the joy of shared experiences are what truly make these milestones special. We look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate together! |
|
| We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of dedicated volunteers who enrich our community here at HAC. Their contributions, both large and small, make a real difference in the lives of our participants.
We'd like to give a special mention to Betty, who captivates our group with her engaging storytelling sessions. Betty animated style of storytelling, brings characters and narratives to life in a way that sparks imagination for everyone! Another volunteer who brings great energy and joy to our center is Kiri. Kiri's visits are especially heartwarming, as she comes with her children. Kiri and her children share the joy of reading by sharing a seasonal story and leading a creative craft activity. These intergenerational visits bring a wonderful spark of youthful enthusiasm and energy to our group. |
