About Gardening at Hope Farms

In 2005, we created Recipe for Success Foundation to translate research into action and change the way our children eat. Many of the finest chefs in town joined our efforts and together we took a small step in the war against childhood obesity. Prevention. We began in the schools, giving monthly hands-on classes that put children in touch with their food from seed to plate and we made it fun.

Applying this same Philosophy, We offer cooking demonstrations at Hope Farms by some of our city's finest chefs for children and adults of all ages. We connect the dots from seed-to-plate to empower students to transform our seasonal farm harvests into healthy meals with delicious recipes that are easy to replicate at home.

We invite you and your family to join Miss Ashly and her team of Master Garden Educators, every 1st Saturday where we will honor the traditions of the many cultures that comprise the American family as we acknowledge our partners in gardening: Mother Earth, the sun & rain, birds, butterflies & bees, understand their unique roles in the garden and learn how to weave them into our own food growing adventures.

Registration opens 3 WEEKS before each class. Mark your calendars now for monthly, themed gardening workshops!

TOO HOT TO HANDLE (FEATURING OKRA) FAMILY GARDENING WORKSHOP | JUNE 6 2026

Meet the villains of the garden — pests, disease, and brutal summer heat — then fight back with a superfood that can take the heat: okra! In this hands-on family class, kids and adults will dig into the garden together, learning pest and disease identification, integrated pest management, and strategies for keeping plants thriving when temperatures soar.

All rooted in our Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ Program.
