Helping caregivers care for themselves

Advantage Aging Solutions has recently established a partnership with Trualta, an innovative company in the field of healthcare education. This collaboration addresses the unique challenges faced by the aging population, combining Advantage Aging Solutions’ expertise in senior care with Trualta’s approach to providing personalized and accessible healthcare education for caregivers.

The partnership aims to empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their own health effectively, ultimately contributing to a higher quality of life. Trualta specializes in delivering evidence-based, interactive learning modules designed for seniors and their caregivers. It is designed to help families build skills to manage care at home for their loved one. They focus on reducing caregiver burden while improving outcomes and reducing costs for our aging population.

Trualta’s eLearning platform can be delivered at point-of-care, in the home, or remotely to meet the caregiver where they are.

Advantage Aging Solutions will be able to integrate Trualta’s educational tools seamlessly into their programs, offering a comprehensive approach to senior care that goes beyond traditional healthcare services.

AAS has cultivated multiples relationships with companies who use technology to aid seniors with training, health and nutrition education, lifelong learning and so much more.

Advantage Aging Solutions is collaborating with TCARE to support caregivers as well. TCARE supports caregivers through the complexities of caregiving to help health plans, employers, and families get to a place of better care. TCARE’s evidence-based software is used by federal, state, and private-funded agencies to identify caregivers at risk for burnout, connect them to the right services, and measure the impact of their programs.

TCARE was built from their own experiences caring for loved ones through complex medical conditions and changes. While caring for family can be rewarding, it also creates unforeseen emotional, physical, and financial challenges that many families aren’t prepared for. TCARE’s mission is to help family caregivers care for themselves as they care for others.

With tailored, data-driven action plans, the expert support of TCARE Specialists, family care protection products, and more, TCARE is proud to offer a complete way to care for family caregivers.

Advantage Aging Solutions is excited to promote these new innovative partnerships and looks forward to helping more seniors, and their caregivers across north Florida.

February is Heart Health Month

Keeping your heart healthy

February is Heart Health Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular health and encouraging individuals to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles. Heart health awareness is particularly crucial for the elderly population, as they are often more susceptible to heart-related issues.

As people age, the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes increases. Seniors can prioritize their heart by maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and managing stress. Monitoring blood pressure and regular check-ups with healthcare providers become even more vital as early detection and intervention can significantly impact the prognosis of heart conditions in older individuals. By promoting heart-healthy habits, the elderly can enhance their overall quality of life and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications.

In addition to lifestyle choices, social support plays a crucial role in the heart health of the elderly. Loneliness and isolation can also contribute to stress and negatively impact cardiovascular health.

To learn more about how to manage your blood pressure and stay heart healthy, the CDC has a wealth of information. You can click here to view: https://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/american_heart_month_patients.htm

Medicare Moments

Medicare and Senior Caregivers

Did you know that as the senior population grows, there will also be a growing number of family members, friends, and neighbors engaged as unpaid primary caregivers for individuals unable to take care of themselves due to a chronic illness or disability? These caregivers often need to be present 24/7. They are working hard to care for their loved one while juggling housework and daily chores at the same time. All too often, caregivers are unable to care for themselves.

Respite Care: Medicare doesn’t provide direct benefits to caregivers but offers respite care as part of the beneficiary’s Medicare hospice benefits.

If a beneficiary is terminally ill and has qualified for hospice or end-of-life care, one covered benefit allows for short-term stays in a hospital or other facility (up to five days at a time). This allows the caregiver to enjoy a period of respite to care for themselves and is covered by Medicare Part A.

Home Health Care: A caregiver can also obtain temporary relief if the beneficiary they are caring for is receiving skilled nursing care from a certified home health agency while confined to the home. The beneficiary can be seen by a nurse, home health aide, and other service provider for up to 8 hours per day or 28 hours per week. This is not to be confused with hospice care. It is covered by Medicare Parts A & B.

If You Are Not Eligible: If a beneficiary is not eligible for Medicare-covered respite care, they can also call Florida’s Elder Helpline from any area code (866-467-4624) to inquire about non-Medicare alternatives.

Let a trained SHINE Counselor assist you with this and all your Medicare questions.
