Turning Compassion into a Career: Keegan's Journey to Nursing with Support from OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties

After working as a welder for seven years, Keegan faced an unexpected career change when the company he worked for abruptly closed its doors.

Although initially hesitant about entering the nursing field, a deeply personal experience helped shape that decision. During his daughter’s battle with cancer, the compassion and dedication shown by the hospital nursing staff left a lasting impression and inspired Keegan to pursue a career helping others. Today, his daughter is three years in remission.

With support and funding assistance from OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties, Keegan enrolled in the LPN program at Canton City Schools to begin training for a new career in nursing. He is set to graduate this June, 2026.
