| To sell Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug plans during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), you must complete the annual Medicare and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) training, such as AHIP or NABIP, that complies with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines. This training is required to stay current on Medicare fundamentals, CMS rules, and upcoming changes.
After passing the AHIP/NABIP certification, you must complete the individual certification for each carrier you wish to represent during the AEP. Failure to do so may result in being unable to market plans or receive commissions.
Do not postpone certification. Early completion gives you access to:
- 2026 updates and CMS guidelines
- Carrier plan and benefit previews
- Enrollment materials and selling opportunities
If you are selling ACA plans through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM), HealthCare.gov, you must take the mandatory certification through the CMS Marketplace Learning Management System (MLMS). If you are selling in states with their own exchanges (e.g., Pennie in Pennsylvania), you must complete State-Based Marketplace certification(s) and training. Click here to view the CMS list of state-based exchanges.
