Stories & Stitches:

Community Art Share Night

The Intercultural Counseling Connection is partnering with the American Visionary Art Museum, Common Threads Project, and Art and Remembrance for a special event and exhibit celebrating the power of art and storytelling.

Time & Location:

Nov 04, 2026, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

American Visionary Art Museum, 800 Key Hwy, Baltimore, MD 21230, USA

About the Event:

Participants from our Common Threads circles will be exhibiting their story cloths and sharing their experiences with the public, alongside the incredible embroidered panels created by Esther Krinitz, which are housed at the museum. We can’t wait for you to see what our clients and colleagues have been creating and sharing.

We are deeply honored to be hosted by the American Visionary Art Museum in collaboration with the Art and Remembrance Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing Esther Krinitz’s artwork and using her story to inspire dialogue, connection, and healing.

Esther Krinitz’s panels were among the early inspirations for Common Threads and have had a profound influence on our work. Last spring, we brought a group of Common Threads circle participants to the museum to experience the panels together and they were deeply moved by seeing the work of an artist and a survivor like themselves hanging in a museum.

We hope to see you there!

This event is open to the public, but AVAM is asking participants to register in advance. In lieu of a paid ticket, AVAM is asking for a $10 suggested donation. Intercultural Counseling Connection provides trauma-focused, pro-bono mental health services for asylum seekers and other forced migrants in Maryland. The Connection is the only program in the state uniquely dedicated to providing culturally and linguistically responsive therapy for adult survivors of torture, sexual and gender-based violence, inhumane treatment, conflict-related harm, targeted persecution, and other forms of extreme harm. We do so through our skilled clinical staff, dedicated support team, and extensive network of compassionate volunteer therapists.
