INSTRUCTOR - Dr. Michelle Gabor

Hello, my name is Michelle Gabor, Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. I love watching people gain skills, knowledge and confidence, and appreciate the emerging technologies that enable all of us to keep learning in whatever modality works for us!

I transitioned to full-time academia after working in the business world for over 20 years and held responsibility at both strategic and functional levels in organizations in the manufacturing, non-profit and financial institution industries, with my final corporate gig as Chief Financial Officer of Educators Credit Union. I’m not just a numbers person though

– I’ve worked in human resources, online and mobile banking, customer service, and operations. Many of my roles leveraged my interest and ability in data mapping and data integration. I was also fortunate to serve as the VP of E-Services in the mid-2000s, when online banking was becoming widespread, mobile banking was emerging (can you imagine life without our phones now?) and Twitter was brand new. It is true - the only constant is change!

I earned my Doctorate of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater while working full-time. I can definitely relate to work-life-learning balance challenges! I have two degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Parkside, an accounting undergrad and MBA, as well as a CPA license. I am actively involved in the community.

On a personal note, I love being outdoors (when it’s not freezing) in the garden, or kayaking, hiking, and camping. I also enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Once fall comes I will be obsessed with the Green Bay Packers. My husband and I live in Racine, WI and have two grown children, one who lives nearby and one who lives in our hearts after losing a long battle with cancer.
