| On Tuesday, a group from BOLD Justice gathered at the County Commission Building in downtown Fort Lauderdale for the final budget hearing for fiscal year 2027. This may sound like a boring meeting, but it was very important that we be there.
The Commission was voting on final approval for affordable housing funding for next year. In February, they promised to provide at least 90% from a special property tax fund for affordable housing, which was around $28 million. We had to be at this meeting to speak up and make sure that the Commission voted as they promised.
A good group from BOLD Justice was in attendance, three of us spoke and told the Commission of the dire need for more affordable housing in Broward, and in the end the Commission approved over $32 million!
I want to give a big thank you to our BOLD Justice Team Leaders at UCC Fort Lauderdale for showing up, to our Network Members who have supported us throughout the year, and to all of you for your prayers and financial donations to BOLD Justice. We made this happen with our people power! |
| Over the next few weeks, we will gather for our BOLD Justice Listening Sessions, a chance to meet, talk about issues in our community, and learn more about the work we are doing in Broward and how you can be involved, in big and small ways. Creation Justice Book Study Laudato Si by Pope Francis Sundays, September 13, 20, 27 at 9:15 a.m. Conference Room
Join us for a study and conversation about creation justice as we read through Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home.” You can pick up a copy of the book for $10 in the church office, or order your own. For our third session, we will be discussing chapters 5 and 6. |

How The Bible Actually Works Monday Night Zoom Class Mondays, October 5 - November 9, 7:00 p.m. The Bible is a big, complex, often-times difficult book to make sense of…and it is one of the foundations of our faith as Christians. - AT&T West Side Parking Lot & the Parking spaces along NE 30th Place (Do not block the stairs)
- CASA MONARCA Parking Lot (Only until noon)
- OVERFLOW PARKING: Parking Lot next to our East Church Parking lot (Entrance off of NE 30th Place)
- We do not recommend parking in the shopping center across from the Church (Park at your own risk)
- There is also FREE parking in front of the businesses along East Oakland Park Blvd (street side only)
- PLEASE do not park on the grassy areas
