FUNDAMENTAL MOUNTAIN BIKE SKILLS CLINICS

Whether you are new to mountain biking, or have been riding for a while and would like to progress to the next level, join us for our new MTB Skills Clinics to dial in your skills.

Prior mountain biking experience is not necessary!

Requirements:

mountain bike in good working condition

bike helmet

closed-toed shoes

gloves (recommended)


Fees:

$ 100 per clinic for aspiring BAMBA members

$ 50 per clinic for current BAMBA members

please note: Membership must be in "current" status the date of the clinic to be eligible for the member fee. Need to join or renew? click here

Instructor:

Jon Spahr is not only a longtime friend and BAMBA member, he is also a highly qualified 6-year National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) coach (Level 3), a PA League supporter/instructor trainer, and a certified Bicycle Instructor Certification Program (BICP) Level 1 Instructor.

Registration Instructions

Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants are encouraged to take both classes, but may choose to just take Level 1. Level 1 is a prerequisite for taking Level 2.

Mountain Bike Skills Clinic-Level 1

Sunday, May 21st, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Level 1 will begin with proper bike and gear check, then demonstrate fundamental skills such as maintaining balance, body position, introduction to cornering, braking, shifting and climbing techniques. Prior experience is not necessary.


Goal: Participants will feel capable of properly performing basic mountain bike skills upon completion of clinic.

Mountain Bike Skills Clinic-Level 2

Saturday, June 24th, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Rain Date: Sunday, June 25th



Camp Lily @ Mount Penn Preserve, 2 List Rd, Reading, PA 19606

Level 2 will build off of the foundational skills introduced in the Level 1 clinic. Topics include: cornering progression (counter balance & rotation), climbing and descending dismounts, ratcheting, small radius turns, rock dodges, navigating switchbacks, and front & rear wheel lifts.


Goal: Participants will feel capable of performing advanced mountain bike skills upon completion of clinic.

Introductory rides will be held on the Saturdays in between the two clinics to encourage opportunities to work on your new skills and explore some of our amazing trail systems in Berks County. Check our events page for upcoming dates.
