A Letter From the Chamber President

We have entered the beautiful summer months which means the streets come alive for all to enjoy.

Downtown Days in Lee’s Summit is the official kickoff to summer in Lee’s Summit. The festival brings sights, sounds, smells, rides and games to downtown Lee’s Summit.

Downtown LS Main Street does a great job of celebrating what Lee’s Summit is all about, and from what I’m hearing, this year could be one of their biggest festivals to date. To see the complete list of activities, visit their website at downtownls.org.

Speaking of downtown Lee’s Summit, don’t forget about the 4th Fridays Art Walks which includes local artists and live music performances that attendees can experience inside participating shops and restaurants.

As you're taking part in the fun activities of Art Walk, you’ll also be able to enjoy Music in the Park, which is another summer event taking place on 4th Fridays May through August. These concerts start at 6:30 p.m. at Howard Station Park, right in front of the Big Red Caboose and the LS Chamber office!

The Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation Dept. is ready for the community to celebrate all that they offer during the summer months. How about a little wave pool action or water slides at the awesome Summit Waves Water Park in Lee’s Summit?

All are welcome to enjoy the different attractions at the water park. If music is your thing, then check out all the different concerts that the parks will be offering at the Legacy Park Amphitheatre. They have an awesome lineup of entertainment for all to enjoy! Make sure you visit the City of Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation website to see the full list of events this summer.

My absolute favorite summer event is attending one of the most popular events of the year, the LS Parks Legacy Blast 4th of July Celebration. This is a must-see event with fireworks that are choreographed to music and simulcast on 94.9 FM. Enjoy the tastes of local food trucks, vendors, DJs and tons of activities for the kids.

Although the fall season is my favorite time of the year — yes, the Chamber is currently preparing for Oktoberfest — I say not so fast! It’s time to bring on Summer in Lee’s Summit!

So stay cool this summer and get involved in all this awesome City has to offer. See you in the wave pool!

Chamber Day at The K!

We experienced an unforgettable evening of fun, laughter, baseball, and fireworks at Lee's Summit Chamber Day at The K on Friday, May 30.

Chamber members watched as the Kansas City Royals took on the Detroit Tigers. But that’s not all – the ticket also included entry to one of Kansas City’s most star-studded events: the Big Slick Celebrity Softball Game.

Members watched as local legends Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Rob Riggle, Eric Stonestreet, David Koechner, Heidi Gardner, and their celebrity friends took to the field for a great cause – supporting the Big Slick and their mission to fight pediatric cancer.

And the night didn't end there! After the Royals game, attendees witnessed a Firework Friday spectacular as the sky over The K lit up in celebration.

Thank you to our 170+ members who participated - we hope you had a blast (pun intended)!
