2023-2024 Faith Formation Curriculum



Preschool class (3 & 4 year olds) The Rainbow Connection uses story books for preschoolers to discuss values inherent in Unitarian Universalism, helping preschoolers to explore the values that unite us as UUs. Start in the sanctuary, class meets in room 4.


Kindergarten & 1st grade class: Lessons from Wonderful Welcome and Love Surrounds us give the children the

opportunity to explore the values and 7 principles of Unitarian Universalism. Start in the sanctuary, class meets in room 3.


Theme: 2nd - 12th grades have curricula based on one of the 3 pillars of faith formation: World Religions.


2 & 3rd grade class: A World of New Friends introduces the class to children (represented by paper dolls) from around the world. We will learn about their religions, hear stories, play games and/or do crafts from their culture. Start in the sanctuary, class meets in room 7.


4th & 5th grade class: Lessons from Holidays and Holy Days introduces the children to a Holiday or Holy day every Sunday. Examples include: Rosh Sukkot, St. Francis Day, Dussehra, Wampanoag Thanksgiving, & Maulid al-Nabi. Start in the sanctuary, class meets in room 8.


Middle School: 6th-8th grades will learn about 9 different world religions. Activities/music/crafts from the tradition will be shared. Skip the sanctuary, meet in room 1 at 10:30 am. This program includes visits to local places of worship for each religion studied (when possible.) 


High School: 9th-12th grades youth will use their smartphones/tablets (we will have devices to lend) to investigate world religions. Criteria include the "founder" and history, the main symbols, and the number of adherents around the world.  Skip the sanctuary, meet in room 5 at 10:30 am. This class will also visit places of worship. When possible, visits to local places of worship will coordinate with the MS class. 


PARENT DRIVERS/CHAPERONES WILL BE NEEDED FOR ALL OFF CAMPUS VISITS.
