About Sautee: Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia in White County has been well known for decades as one of the Best 100 Small Art Towns in America. The Indian Mound at the intersection of GA 75 and GA 17 is the second most recognized place in Georgia. At the other end of Nacoochee Valley it joins
Sautee Valley. As the two valleys spill into the Chattahoochee River they mark the home of the small, unique hamlet of Sautee Nacoochee. Sautee Nacoochee is home to a cultural heritage rich in history, legends, and according to residents who live there, the best zip code in Georgia. As an artist, you will not be disappointed in the scenes that will excite your artistic soul.
Eligibility: Open to all artists with registration and entry fee of $50 for current members of SNC and $60 for non-members. All work must be completed in the Sautee area (maps provided) on September 12 and 13, 2025 and stamped with SNC insignia on back of your canvases at registration check in beginning 7:00 am., September 12. Only artwork with SNC stamp will be permitted in the exhibition and for sale. All artwork must be for sale. Artwork not for sale will not be accepted for exhibition and judging. Artwork must not exceed 600 sq. inches in size and must be submitted no later than 7:00 pm, Friday, September 12, in order to be eligible for judging. Artwork must be framed and ready to hang
(or gallery wrapped canvas with sides painted), and clearly marked on the back with artists’ name, title, medium, size, and price (Form provided upon submission for judging of awards.) Entry Fee: Please submit a non-refundable entry fee of $50 (members of SNC) and $60 (for nonmembers of SNC). Up to three (3) artworks may be submitted for judging. Entry fee includes admission to be eligible for awards, eligibility for Quick Draw and attendance at awards reception
on Saturday.
Sales: This event is hosted by Sautee Nacoochee Center. SNC is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Arts Council member and will retain a 30% commission on sales during the exhibition of members of SNC and a 35% commission on sales of non-members. Payments for all work sold will be mailed within ten (10)
business days after the close of the event. Works will remain on display and for sale until 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 13 at the close of the awards reception and sale in the SNC historic gym. At the close of this event, artists are responsible for removing their unsold pieces of art. The event presenteers are unable to ship any remaining canvases. After thirty (30) days, any unclaimed
paintings will become the property of the Sautee Nacoochee Center and will be sold at its discretion.

7:00 pm Deadline to submit artworks completed on Friday, framed and ready to hang. Friday’s work must be turned in at this time.

1:30 pm Quick Draw Deadline to submit artworks for judging. All artwork will be
available for sale with 30% commission to SNC for artwork of members, and
35% commission to SNC for artwork of non-members. All art must be framed,
ready to hang, and be marked on the back with artist, title, size, medium and
price. Form will be provided upon turn in of artrworks to be judged for prizes.
1:30 to 3:00 pm Additional Painting time for competition.

3:30 to 4:00 pm Patron Purchase Awards - Patrons who pre-purchased paintings have early opportunity to select paintings before public sales.
4:00 to 6:00 pm Public invited to vote for People’s Choice Award. Reception will begin at 4:00 pm. Everyone is invited to attend, enjoy the festivities and purchase fresh off the canvas paintings of local scenes. Awards will be presented close to the end of the reception.
All Plein Air artworks and all Quick Draw artworks are for sale to the public.

2-Day Workshop
Keith’s workshop, titled “Basics of Plein Air”, will be held at the Sautee Nacoochee Center on September 10 and 11 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days. Workshop fee is $295 total for both days, and it is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. Keith will cover the basics of plein air painting, such as how to begin a painting by using a monochromatic underpainting to create a pleasing value structure and composition. Basic aspects of painting covered during lectures and demos will be color theory, aerial and linear perspective, composition, use of value, brushwork, and edges to create better paintings. Personal attention will
be given to each painter through critiques by frequent easel visits to each painter
Day 1 will begin with a lecture and demo by Keith. Participants will paint in the afternoon.
Day 2 participants will continue painting on their own while being guided through the process by frequent easel visits by Keith.
Participants may work in oil or acrylic. Please bring your own photos
of scenes of interest to you in case bad weather forces us indoors. There will be a half hour break so bring a box lunch.
