The Colorado Board of Health approved updates to the Chapter 2 general licensure standards at the April 2023 meeting. Updates include new infection prevention requirements for health care facilities that became effective June 14, 2023.


COVID-19 is a reportable illness

Identifying one or more case(s) of COVID-19 in a resident or staff member is reportable to public health.  

  • Reporting must occur within 4 days. 
  • COVID-19 reporting instructions can be found here.  
  • Although the public health emergency has ended, residential care facilities are still required to follow COVID-19 disease control guidance.

September is Sepsis Awareness month and the CDC just released a new toolkit to scale your sepsis prevention response. Join CDPHE on our LTCF call in September to learn more about the signs of sepsis.

It’s time to think about vaccines

If you would like to learn more about the vaccination recommendations for you and your residents for the upcoming respiratory season, consider attending the Project ECHO call on Friday, October 6, 2023. The target audience for this call includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other immunizing providers, pharmacists, and infection preventionists working in Colorado. The session will provide an overview of current vaccine recommendations for available fall 2023 RSV, COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations. Long-term care OEHS training

Join Routt County Public Health and the American Industrial Hygiene Association for a full day professional development conference covering health and safety topics in residential and long-term care facilities. This event is the perfect blend of information for industrial hygienists, safety professionals, and long-term care facility staff alike. You will hear from OSHA, CDPHE, local health departments, and industry representatives who will share their perspective of the importance of Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) in this industry.
