What is Arts and Aging Day Canada?

Participating in arts-based activities has been shown to help older adults in many different domains of well-being – physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual.

Arts and Aging Day Canada is all about showcasing the positive impact the arts have on older adults! In partnership with Sheridan Center for Elder Research and Kate Dupuis, Schlegel Innovation Leader in Arts and Aging, we'll be celebrating the research and benefits of arts, creativity, and self-expression.

How are We Celebrating?

At the Research Institute for Aging (RIA), we recognize that participation in the creative and performing arts can serve to support the health and well-being of older adults. The arts can bring people together, provide an opportunity for personal growth, and spark fond memories. We are committed to breaking down barriers and establishing a focus on the arts for older adults and enhancing aging for all.

Boosting Well-Being through the Arts

The way arts and creativity can enhance the lives of older adults is invaluable. Sit down with Kate Dupuis, Schlegel Innovation Leader in Arts & Aging, as she discusses how arts-based activities can enrich your life.

“It’s important to highlight all of the ways we can maximize health and well-being. Arts presents an incredible opportunity for this. It encourages people to be expressive and creative.”
