3^rd Annual Forward Together Conference

This year's conference will be held on October 3^rd, 2024 from 8:00AM -12:00PM at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, NY

Track 1: STRATEGIZING FOR TOMORROW

Session 1 - Sustainable Horizons: Blueprinting our Environmental Future

Hear from regional partners and our staff who have experience with state programs designed for municipal and county-level implementation of initiatives that help to meet the needs of a changing climate.

Presenters to include representatives from Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA), New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), and LCLGRPB to speak about Road Salt and Your Community, the NY Climate Smart Communities Program, and the Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2).

Session 2: Planning for the Community You Want

This portion of the conference will focus on where communities can take small actions or big strides to help alleviate some of the issues felt region-wide by the housing crisis. Hear from program administrators and our staff on specific steps to take when evaluating solutions to issues surrounding housing.

Presenters to include representatives from Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH), New York State Homes & Community Renewal (HCR), the Town of Plattsburgh's Department for Planning and Community Development, and LCLGRPB to speak about becoming a Pro-Housing Community, comprehensive planning and zoning, our new Workforce Housing Revolving Loan Fund, and the Second Floor Program.

Track 2: REDEFINING SMALL TOWN ECONOMIES

Session 1 - Creative Catalysts: Igniting Innovative Projects

Presentations will focus on where anticipated funding can be creatively used to adapt regional, state, and federal grant programs to fit your community's needs. Learn about identity projects from the northern, eastern, and southern areas of our region.

Presenters to include representatives from the Lake Champlain Sailing Center, the North Country Chamber of Commerce, and Warren County Planning to share methods for making the most of Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) grant awards.

Session 2 - Foundation Forward: Planning for Tomorrow's Infrastructure

The conclusion of 'Session 2' will share new insights on existing projects and programs to bring our region up to speed in broadband and cell coverage. Learn about partnership models for implementing this infrastructure and the value of technical assistance from LCLGRPB.

Presenters to include representatives from New York State Empire State Development (ESD) Connect All, the United States Department of Agriculture, and LCLGRPB to speak about broadband and cell infrastructure project federal and state funding programs.
