This year, all competitions and contests at the Ohio Educators Rising State Conference will have a Junior Varsity (grades 9-10) and Varsity (11-12) division. Only select competitions will have Middle School and/or Spanish division competitions (see list of competitions to the left for a breakdown of divisions).

In order to compete at the state conference, students must have an active membership, which means that they are registered with Educators Rising through the national portal and have paid all dues.

In order to qualify to compete at Nationals, students must place in the top ten in their division or receive a gold medal score in their contest, or be in the top ten scores, with at least a bronze ranking if there are not at least ten gold medalists.

Each student may only compete in one event (competition or contest; this includes team-based competitions). Teacher leaders may have up to two entries per school in each individual or dual event per division and one team for team events per division.

Definitions:

• Competition -- Participants compete against each other for top rankings.
• Contest -- Participants are scored against a predetermined rubric and ranked according to their overall score. **Correction to qualifying according to State Leadership Team Policy** Top ten scores that earn Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals advance to Nationals.
• Gold = 98-100
• Silver = 94-97
• Bronze = 90-93
• Presubmission -- All competitions and contests that go are qualifiers for the National Conference have components which must be submitted for pre-scoring prior to compete at the conference.
• Please keep in mind that depending on the number of submissions for each event and judge availability, some competitions may use prescoring of presubmitted elements to determine who is eligible to compete on-site.
• Individual -- This indicator designates that the competition/contest is being completed by a single participant entry.
• Dual -- This indicator designates that this competition/contest is being completed by two participants.
• Competitions/Contests compete in the same category whether individual or dual.
• Team -- This competition is completed by a group consisting of no less than two and no more than four participants.
• If a team qualifies for national competition, changes in the team roster may be made as long as at least 50% of the original roster are still participating in the competition.
• Open -- Competitions that are in bold are open to spectators.
