Important Presbytery Meeting - June 1

I hope everyone has gotten the word that our upcoming Presbytery meeting will be held in-person on Saturday, June 1. The Coordinating Team will be meeting on Tuesday, May 7 to finalize the plan on location, time, and schedule.  The plan is for the meeting to be live streamed for those who want to keep up with the discussion, but voting members will need to be present in order to vote.

This will be a one-day meeting with the highlight of the meeting being a progress report on our Visioning and Strategic Planning process with Ministry Architects. Ministry Architects Founder Mark Devries will be here in person to lead us through a proposed mission statement, a group of values that would guide our work together, and several goals to focus on for the next three years of our work and ministry together.

Since this is a crucial time in the life of our presbytery and very important work in this strategic planning process, our Coordinating Team feels that it is advantageous for us to be together in the same room to discern where the spirit might be leading us.

We recognize that this is an inconvenience for those who planned on a virtual meeting. We will start later in the morning so that people can make the drive without having to spend the night. We will attempt to limit business so that the docket is not too lengthy but will allow ample time to dialogue with Mark Devries.  Additionally, we will hear from the Financial Requests Task Force on a plan to respond to the major gifts request from our previous presbytery meeting. Elizabeth Cahoon, a candidate for ministry and Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, will be preaching at our morning worship and will be examined for ordination.

It promises to be an exciting and impactful presbytery meeting as we consider our future mission and ministry together. We appreciate your flexibility as we attempt to pivot to an in-person gathering on short notice.

We will post an announcement with a special edition of The Update on Wednesday, May 8.

I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday, June 1. I continue to be grateful to be partnered with you in this important time in the life of our presbytery!!

                                                                                                   Blessings,

                                                                                                                            Stewart
