interventions to meet ethical non-monogamous

clients' needs.



This workshop is highly recommended for therapists from all disciplines: social work clinicians, psychologists, guidance counsellors, doctors, marriage & family therapists, relationship coaches and other practitioners who work with couples and individuals regarding their relationships, intimacy and sexuality.

In this workshop participants will:


  • Explore their belief systems and biases about polyamory in order to walk alongside clients who are different from them in a nonjudgmental therapeutic setting.
  • Discover four stages of navigating and thriving in ethical non-monogamous relationships.
  • Learn seven holistic intervention skills to help clients manage their jealousy and other insecurities in polyamorous relationships.
  • Acquire core knowledge to facilitate open and effective communication between couples as they establish boundaries around their sexuality and erotic goals within their ethical non-monogamous relationships.
  • Develop skills to facilitate difficult conversations, such as when one or both clients want their metamours to move in with them.
  • Explore five therapeutic approaches to hold space for LBGTQ2s+, BDSM and other marginalized groups within the polyamory communities.
  • Gain five practical skills for assisting clients through the process of coming out as polyamorous individuals to their families, friends, and workplace.
  • Establish tools for accessing the pros and cons of polyamory and help clients design their own romantic relationships.

Trainer: Susan Wenzel

Susan Wenzel is a Polyamory-Affirmative Therapist, relationship expert, certified sex- therapist (AASECT), and psychotherapist with years of experience working with individuals and couples regarding their relationships, personal growth, mental health, sexuality, polyamory, and monogamy. Susan is an AASECT provider of continuing education credits. She is also a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Susan
